One of my favorite things about Denver, especially in the winter, is its many days of sunshine. Growing up in Utah, I’m no stranger to snow. In fact, many of my childhood memories include sledding, building snow forts, and having epic snowball fights. Although I’m not a fan of the cold or driving on icy roads, I still enjoy the winter season. I’ve always felt there’s something magical about going to sleep and waking up to a world of white.
This is why Denver seems to be the perfect place to enjoy the winter months. We still get snow, but the sun ensures that freezing temperatures and icy roads don’t often accompany the winter weather. Yesterday was 55 degrees before it snowed a couple of inches last night. Today’s temperature is supposed to reach 52, and the roads were already melted by 8:30 am.
I decided to take advantage of the snow before it melted and walk Max through the fields near our house this morning. He tromped through the snow, pulling me like a sled, hunting, and frolicking like Huskies do.
The sun is out, the snow is raining down from the trees, and I’m sitting on our deck, enjoying the sunshine with Max. Winter doesn’t get much better than this.
